If you have received an e-mail that talks about winning a million dollars from an Oprah contest, don’t trust it!

This e-mail scam is exploiting the trust that viewers and many people associate with Oprah. They have been scamming people so much the FBI has had to get involved. The FBI states that any e-mail saying you have been lucky enough to be on the ‘Oprah Millionaire Contest Show’ is a scam.

The message says the recipient has been nominated to be on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” during which a winner of the cash will be named. Then it asks the “nominee” for contact information. Don’t give out any information or even respond to this spam.

The con artists running this scam ask for you to send them the money for travel and tickets to the show to them directly. This is ridiculous as tickets to the show are free, however hard to come by.

Even the popular day time talk show host has a warning about “sweepstakes scams” related to the Oprah and that no such program has been scheduled.
