Reports from Urijah Faber’s twitter page indicated that he had suffered a broken hand in last night’s fight. He was in a rematch with Mike Brown for the WEC MMA featherweight championship when the injury occured.

His attempt at winning back the belt at WEC 41 was cut short when he broke his right hand in the middle of the first round. He later injured his left hand as well. I was watching the fight last night and Faber was only using his elbows and kicks in the fight in the remaining rounds. You could see him mouth the words “Ouch” when he broke his right hand in the first round with a severe look of pain. I didn’t realize he had broken it until later on.

He lost the fight in a unanimous decision after going all five rounds. You have to hand it to him for staying in the fight and trying to win despite a serious injury.
