Unlike the “wow” pick Memphis Athletic Director R.C. Johnson promised the alumni and fans, the Tigers have gone with Josh Pastner. Mr. Pastner was the assistant coach to Calipari before Calipari left for Kentucky. Pastner also spent six years coaching under Lute Olsen at Arizona, where he also played.

There will be a press announcement tomorrow at noon to release the information to the public about the hire.

R.C. Johnson had searched far and wide for a coach that would help the basketball team. The search included Tennessee’s Bruce Pearl, Baylor’s Scott Drew and Florida State’s Leonard Hamilton.
