World Autism Awareness Day
Today is World Autism Awareness Day. It is a day to recognize the children that struggle with autism and the challenges of figuring out autism and how to treat children born with it. When a child hits the age of three you look for signs of difficulty in three areas: Social relationships and communications, imagination and planning, and repetitive behaviors.
There are some autistic children that may never talk. They engage in repetitive movements. They have a reduced sensitivity to pain but are abnormally sensitive to sound, touch, and other sensory stimulation. Some speak in a sing-song voice on topics, with little regard for the interests of the person to whom they are speaking. The autistic person may appear aloof and indifferent to those around him. He may be sociable with one person but may not be able to function in a group. Autistic children are generally very brilliant, they just don’t express it in our society’s way of thinking. Parents and teachers alike should be aware of what Autism, that way if they spot it, they can help aid the child and raise him/her in the right environment.
