Michael Phelps is denying allegations that he is dating Miss California. There have been plenty of controversy and rumors flying around since Miss California (Carrie Prejean) said she doesn’t support gay marriage.

You can imagine the gossip that would come if these two were dating. Olympic champ who smokes marijuana and a Beauty pageant contestant who made a “non-pc” answer. The two are perfect for each other!

Phelps shot down the rumors, “I’m not dating anybody,” he said Wednesday at the opening of the Omega flagship boutique in NYC. “I’m single. My private life stays private.”

Prejean, 21, was coy earlier this week when asked about rumors they’re an item. “He is a great man. Wouldn’t you like to know?” she said

Since Phelps didn’t lie about smoking marijuana (and he easily could have denied it) why would he lie about dating a Miss America contestant? Most guys would be very proud of that fact.
