Holocaust Museum Shooting

There was a shooting at a Holocaust Museum today in Washington D.C. The 89-year-old gunman entered the museum and started shooting the moment he breached the doorway.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said the gunman was “engaged by security guards immediately after entering the door” with a rifle. “The second he stepped into the building he began firing.”

The man named James Von Brunn was shot and wounded after killing a security guard. He is currently hosptilized and in critical condition.

Von Brunn has a racist, anti-Semitic Web site and wrote a book titled “Kill the Best Gentiles.”

In 1983, he was convicted of attempting to kidnap members of the Federal Reserve Board. He was arrested two years earlier outside the room where the board was meeting, carrying a revolver, knife and sawed-off shotgun. At the time, police said Von Brunn wanted to take the members hostage because of high interest rates and the nation’s economic difficulties. For twenty years, according to the bio on his website, Von Brunn worked as an advertising executive and film producer in New York City. The bio says he is a member of Mensa, the organization of people with exceptional IQs.

A few years ago, Von Brunn reportedly had a volatile exchange with novelist Tom Clancy in which he called Colin Powell a n—-r, according to the white-supremacist Web site Thebirdman.org.

His age is still in dispute, some believe he is 60 while other retain he is around 89.
