Schindler’s List Dicovered in Sydney, Australia

Most of us have seen the famous movie Schindler’s List, but very few have seen the actual list. Well now the list has been discovered after many years of it’s disappearance.

A researcher found the list in a library in Sydney, Australia. Schindler was a German Industrialist who helped many Jews escape concentration camps near the end of the war in ’45. He was operating a factory in Krakow, Poland where he used Jewish labor. He was a card carrying Nazi, who secretly used what power he had to help the Jews.

ThereĀ are 13 pages of fragile, yellowing paper, upon which are typed the names and nationalities of 801 Jewish people. This list is very historically significant and should be moved to a history museum.

Thomas Keneally wrote the book “Schindler’s Ark,” also published as “Schindler’s List,” which was made into the Oscar-winning film by Steven Spielberg in 1993.

He sold his research, files and notes on the book to a manuscript dealer, and the library purchased those six boxes in 1996. The curators did not realize that they contained a copy of Schindler’s list (A copy of the copy).

If you haven’t seen the film, it is excellent, it is a very emotionally moving film and well-directed by Spielberg. I highly recommend it.
